Drop In Programming

The FRC facilitates and partners with local community agencies to deliver a wide variety of programs that we feel will benefit young children and their families. Programs range from child focused to parent focused, and support families from pregnancy to children 5 years of age.

On-Site Drop In Programs

Stay & Play

  • Offered multiple times a week, at different times, including weekend and evenings

  • Unstructured environment to play together, meet new friends, gain new skills, and share ideas

  • Families have opportunities to connect and build relationships with professionals (dietician, public health nurses, BECIP, KidsFirst, etc) in an informal setting as they attend programs, when available

  • Circle time takes place at the end of each program to support with children’s transition home and to provide literacy learning opportunities for parents

Helping Our Children Grow

  • Helping Our Children Grow is for parents and/or caregivers with children 0-3 years

  • It is offered 1x per month, in a drop in format for families to attend during a drop in play session as well as upon request during drop-in programming times

  • The goal of the program is to enhance children’s learning and development and build caregiver confidence through the Ages and Stages Questionnaire

  • Parents and caregivers receive a growth chart for home and can take part in developmental check–ins from prenatal to 36 months. Every time a check-in (ASQ) is completed a new animal decal is given to add to their growth chart. It is meant to be a fun way to enhance and reflect a child’s learning and development as they grow.

  • Learning kits are also available to lend out to families with specific activities and items that work on different developmental areas of the ASQ: fine motor, gross motor, communication, cognitive, problem-solving

Baby & Me

  • Weekly program for Parents/Caregivers who have infants aged 0-18 months

  • Interactive songs/rhymes

  • Age appropriate stories and images for infants fostering early literacy awareness

  • Interaction with other parents/caregivers

  • Some sessions will include partnerships with other professional or community members to be “guests” to expand on the needs and interests of the group
